Filtering & Sorting
Sorting, filters, and search.
Sorting
In the toolbar or View → Sort:
- Capture Date (default), File Name, Date Modified, File Size
- Width, Height, Brightness
- Color Tag, Rating
- Arrangement — manual order (set by dragging photos in the gallery)
Smart Sort: Similarity (similar side by side), Portraits (by face).
Filters
- Color labels — click a color in the toolbar to show only that color, ⌥ + click — hide that color instead
- Stars — minimum rating, ⌥ + click — invert (below selected)
- Faces — all / with faces / without faces / closed eyes
- Orientation — landscape / portrait
- Format — JPEG, RAW, PNG and other extensions. When a folder has multiple RAW formats, an overall RAW button appears — one click shows every RAW. If JPEG or PNG sit alongside RAW, a NON-RAW button also appears to separate finished files from camera originals with a single click
- Selected only — toolbar button, shows only selected photos
- Camera — buttons with camera models from EXIF, sorted by photo count. The top 5 are buttons, the rest live in a dropdown. Click — show one camera, ⌘ + click — add another. The "NO" button filters photos with no camera data
Search
⌘F — search by file name and AI tags (tags automatically assigned during indexing). Results appear instantly.
The "All folders" button expands the search to all previously indexed folders — results open in a new tab.
Search by Description — a separate field in the toolbar that finds photos by what's in them ("sunset", "smiling kids", "golden hour"). Runs entirely on your Mac — photos are never sent anywhere.
Saving and loading selection
⌘⇧S — save the list of selected files as a .txt (a system dialog will open). Color labels are saved along with file names.
⌘⇧L — load a list from a file. PhotoWorker will find matches by name in the current folder, select them, and restore color labels.
